Men's Volleyball- Opinion Final Draft

Springtime is finally here. With the start of spring many of the spring team sports are in the primes of there season. But some people seem to think there are a few sports left out for people. Men's Volleyball has been a very popular, up and coming sport the past few years. With the appearance in the Summer Olympic games, in China, in 2008, people have grown interest in this very popular sport.

See, when it comes to high school volleyball, there is only one type, Girl's Volleyball. Men are restricted from playing the game even if it has grown popular interest in recent years. Even if I may not be going here next year, I know there is a wide range of interested guys that love the game of volleyball and would love to see it implemented into the spring sports system.

"I think volleyball is popular just because of how competitive it is, I think people don't give it the credit it deserves because the sport is challenging but fun." Says Kyle Jonas, a summertime beach volleyball fiend.

By implementing Men's Beach Volleyball into spring sports I think it will not only add another sport, but get kids off their butts and outside being proactive. It would be a popular sport to both watch and be in. By putting it into the line-up of spring sports it would increase the amount of activity here at Eastview and give a new sport for people to watch.

With the growing popularity of this sport, it's hard not to put this sport into spring athletics. It would not only boost the amount of people going out for a sport, but it would boost activity around the school. The student council always says they need to improve the food that we are eating throughout the concessions and lunch-line. But with putting volleyball into the system, it would boost many kids fitness level and have fun while doing it.

The input of this sport is a great idea for not only the school but the district. It will help improve activity throughout the school, increase the amount of popularity of the sport, and help kids meet new people by joining an organized sport. I think the input of this sport should happen and WILL happen within the next few years.

The Days of our Lives (Feature Story final draft)

Summer sun is approaching everyone! The 2010-2011 school year is quickly coming to a close. With seniors already going on the “senior slide” and thinking about future plans in college, and the warm weather that’s keeping kids unmotivated to finish the year strong. It’s hard to realize that us seniors are almost done with our high school careers and will be moving onto something bigger and better in the fall.
The taste in my mouth right now is bitter sweet. Being that it’s almost summer and each and every day keeps getting harder to wake up, we all seem to want school to be done. But realizing that this is our last month in this high school and that the people we see in the halls each and every day won’t be there next year. We all know it will be hard to say goodbye to high school on June 4th. It’s going to be a change, but a change for the better.
“What I’ll most miss from High school is all of my friends, and all of the friendships I have made here. It’s going to be hard to say bye to all of them and hard to leave.” Says Garrett Runing who has had some of the best school spirit the 4 years he attended Eastview.
The class of 2011 seems to be a tight-knit class and seems like it might be inseparable as they all head off different ways next fall to start a new adventure. It seems as if every High School student wants school to be done but they still want the friendships made here to last through the transitions from high school to college.
“What I am most looking forward to in the transition to college is developing independence and living on my own,” Jack Yakowicz says, who is attending Concordia, Moorhead in the fall.
It seems as if this is a difficult time for teenagers heading off to college because they want to get out of high school but they know they will miss some parts back home. You’re essentially starting a new chapter in your life and starting off fresh once again.
With the summer approaching, it’s a great time to spend with friends, catch some rays, and relish the last few months together as a high school class. “I am really looking forward to this summer. It’s going to be a great time to spend with friends and take in the last few months together. It will be one of the best memories I will ever have as a kid.” Kyle Jonas says who is one of the many leaders of the senior class.
“This summer is almost going to be a tip-off to the whole class of 2011 and how great the last 4 years were together, it’s gonna be fun!” Says Garrett Runing who will be attending UW LaCrosse in the fall.
With this summer quickly approaching we should realize that we don’t have much time together. Let’s enjoy the time we have together and spend every day like it was our last time together. It may be difficult to say goodbye in the end but you know you will always have the memories with that person.
“My favorite memory of High School was the football games because there is nothing like high school football. It’s a great feeling to be in the senior section and right up to that chain-linked fence.” Super-fan Jack Yakowicz says. “It’s going to be difficult not being able to go to the games anymore and seeing all your friends out there playing on the field. It’s definitely going to be a different feeling.”
The feeling of actually leaving high school is bitter sweet. You will miss the times you’ve had at football games, or the state tournament run by your team, or by leaving the teachers that have helped you out over the last 4 years.
With still a lot more events coming up this month, the year is still not over. With Prom and graduation still yet to come, it’s sure to be a fantastic month. Even if it may be hard to realize we have less than a month of school left in our high school career, it’s still happening before our very own eyes. We almost tend to think of the future and what’s in store for us, like majors or career plans for college and the future.
“I think my main interest in my career choice or major is business. I want to be able to make money and be successful and I feel I would strive in it.” Says Jack Yakowicz thinking about his future plans and goals.
“My goal for a career choice and major is something involving sports management, because I have been interested with sports all my life and have grown fond of the behind the scenes things.” Says Runing, a hardcore sportsfanatic.
For most colleges you don’t have to decide with your major right away because there is no rush in your freshman year. I realize it is hard to pick a major right now because high schools don’t give you as much options as colleges do to explore your options through majors. It’s a difficult process but is instructed to ensure that you have made the right choice in a major/career.
With High school winding up quick and seniors already thinking about post-high school plans, it’s hard to realize graduation is less than a month away. We sometimes tend to forget to relish the times we have with the people we love and seem to think the worst parts of our lives are coming up. We have to realize that this is the best times of our lives. We are starting a new journey in our lives and are creating memories each and every step of the way. We all must remember that even if we may be leaving high school and going separate ways, we may be done with that period of our life, but the memories will last forever.
